Activities in General:-

®  Sponsoring nearly 180 students with regard to their complete or partial educational expenditure.

®  Acting as a medium between basti children and alumni funding them.

®  Giving special training to selected students for admission into the Navodaya stream of education.

®  Periodical medical camps are organized.

®  Yearly blood donation camp at IT-BHU .

®  Organizing periodical competitions for sports, cultural and personality building .

Review of session 2009-2010

1)     More that 330 basti students were funded for surveyed for admission in 3 different schools of Lehartara: Sarasvati Shiksha Niketan school, Gyan Sagar school and Sant Ravidas School.

2)     On 14^th Aug 2009, first medical camp was organised with help of Dr. K.K. Gupta, Incharge Blood Bank, IMS-BHU.

3)     On 8^th Oct 2009, with help of Prof. B.B.Bansal sir, a briefing was conducted for 1^st Year students in G-7.

4)     On 21^st Oct 2009, prepration classes for Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya Entrance exam for top 30 students of Basti (from class 4^th to 7^th) was started by employing a teacher from Basti itself. Classes were regularly monitored on weekdays and periodical review tests were also conducted on weekends. 

5)     On 2^nd Nov 2009, to encourage extra-curricular activities among basti students a Cultural and sports fest was organised. 

6)     On 26^th Jan 2010, Republic Day function was celebrated for our mess children at Prof. A.K. Mukherjee’s place. Children participated in dance, dramatics, singing and also gave presentation on Fundamental Rights. They were prepared by his wife and other KU volunteers for the function. 29 mess children participated in the function.

7)     On 8^th Feb., Jawahar Navodaya vidyalaya Entrance exam took place and this year two students were selected from Basti.

8)     On 14^th Feb., second Medical Camp was conducted in Basti. With the help of 3 Doctors(2 from ENT department and 1 from Ophthalmology Department). Around 70 patients were examined. KU also made a follow through of the patients.

9)     On 24^th March, Blood Donation Camp was organized in IT-BHU. KU met a record of 335 units donation, the largest BDC in entire UP.

10) On 27^th March, the Academic quiz was organized in Basti at SSN school. This year Harishchandra School also participated in the quiz. The quiz comprised written test, oral questioning which included GK, Logic, IQ etc , open Speech competition both in Hindi and English, Extempore and Memory games for kids.

11) A regular sewing machine classes were also organised for Basti Girls for around 3 months after school hours and for one month during summer holidays. 40-50 basti girls and women were trained with help of a sewing teacher from the Basti.

12) KU also started work in a new Basti Pahadi Gaon near DLW. Chandan ji run a school over there. KU is promoting and encouraging education in the Basti people, not providing any financial assistance. 

13) The education to 29 mess children in and around IT-BHU and in next session 5 to 6 of them will be enrolled in open schools. And on 11^th May 2010 educational tour to Sarnath was organised for them.

14) On 13^th and 14^th May 2010, materials, collected from final year students leaving BHU, were distributed amongst Susuwahi Basti.

15) Two students Saurabh shah and Golu from Lehartara have been selected in JNV entrance exam, 2010.
